Reading and measurement
We count page views, visible article cards, clicks, reading progress, next-chapter clicks, and copied links. Reading progress means the page was visible for at least 30 seconds and the reader reached 70% of the article; it is an estimate, not proof that someone read it. Counts represent browser events, not verified unique people.
A random measurement ticket is held in browser session storage and expires within 24 hours. The server stores a hashed ticket to prevent duplicate event counts, then removes expired tickets. It does not store your IP address or email in the measurement tables. Aggregated counts have no direct identifiers and are retained to compare editorial experiments. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals disable this measurement.
For article visits, we also count broad search-source categories, when your browser supplies a referrer, and clicks to our deal site or other publications. We do not retain the referring URL or search query. Daily aggregate counts help us compare useful articles over time.
Hosting and contact
Cloudflare and our web server process connection information, including IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site. Their operational logs are separate from our reading counters. Contact messages contain only the email address and message you provide. They are kept privately for up to 90 days and are used to respond to your request or review a correction. Do not send passwords, payment details, or sensitive personal information.
Advertising and your choices
Ads help support this publication. When available, they appear in a labeled space after the article. Google AdSense and its advertising partners may use cookies, device identifiers, and information about your visit to deliver, personalize, and measure advertising. Where applicable, Google’s consent message lets you choose how this information is used, and a Do Not Sell or Share link provides an opt-out.
